3 jackets that every man should own (part1)

Choosing a jacket really depends on your style as an individual, but jackets can be a great compliment to your wardrobe and outfit. There are so many options when it comes to jackets, from classic leather jackets to sports jackets.

A jacket is a statement piece of an outfit so it’s important to choose a jacket that will compliment your outfits, so before buying a jacket ask yourself ‘’What can I wear this with?” It’s also important to choose a jacket that will do what it’s meant to do – keep you warm and keep you dry.

In this blog we will talk about 3 jackets that every man should know about, helping you choose the best one for you.

The Bomber Jacket

The bomber jacket is the perfect casual option, a timeless jacket that has passed the test of time and is always in fashion. The bomber jacket or flight jacket has heritage from the armed forces and was originally created for pilots. It later evolved into the fashionable bomber jacket that it’s known as today.

Maybe it’s the jacket’s history but for some reason bomber jackets just make you look cool, remember Ryan Gosling in Drive? Having a classic black, navy or khaki bomber jacket in your wardrobe is a must – you can easily match it with your outfits and it would look great for autumn.

The jacket has been released in many different materials and silhouettes, for example the long bomber jacket, which can be an alternative to a trench jacket for the winter

The Denim Jacket

Another classic casual alternative: the denim jacket. The first denim jacket was created in 1880 by Levi’s founder Levi Strauss. The jacket has a long history from being ideal for laborers to being worn by famous Hollywood celebrities such as James Dean.

The denim jackets can suit any man’s wardrobe. Play it safe with a less distressed jacket and pair it with a sweater or t-shirt. Don’t be afraid to wear it with your jeans, just wear lighter or darker jeans and you will be fine.

For a more edgy outfit or a going out outfit, wear a black denim jacket, a shirt and straight leg jeans.

The Harrington Jacket

 Le Breve Navy Harrington Jacket

The Harrington jacket was first crafted in 1927 by John and Issac Miller in Manchester. The Harrington jacket is often mistaken for a bomber jacket but there’re some distinct differences such as a stand-up collar, raglan sleeves and slanted flap pockets.

Another significant difference is that the Harrington jacket is more versatile, functional and a real universal piece of men’s outwear. It’s perfect for transitional autumn weather and it can be layered with a sweater or worn alone with a shirt.

The Harrington jacket is our favourite as it can be worn both in formal and casual occasions.  A classic Harrington jacket is best paired with dark blue jeans or chinos, a t-shirt, polo shirt or shirt depending on how casual or smart you want to look.

For a formal occasion, pair a navy Harrington jacket with light coloured chinos and a shirt. Harrington jackets come in so many colours, so you can either have a bright coloured jacket and a simple outfit or keep the jacket’s colour simple but pay attention to the finer details.

For casual yet stylish look, pair a red Harrington jacket with a white top and light blue jeans.
